PEOPLE’S UNITED COMMUNITY FOUNDATION AWARDS $5,000 TO CAMP TA-KUM-TA
BRIDGEPORT, CT – The People’s United Community Foundation, the philanthropic arm of People’s United Bank, announced today that it has once again awarded $5,000 to Camp Ta-Kum-Ta.
For more than two decades Camp Ta-Kum-Ta has provided a safe, loving place where children from Vermont and New York who have, or have had cancer, can play, swim, share and heal. Camp Ta-Kum-Ta is where kids go to reclaim a childhood robbed by cancer. Originally, a summer-only camp, the new facility in South Hero now allows the organization to offer a year-round experience.
“Camp Ta-Kum-Ta is very appreciative to the People’s United Community Foundation for its continued support which has made a significant impact in helping us expand our programs to become a year-round camp for children and their families dealing with cancer,” said, Hattie Johnson, Executive Director at Camp Ta-Kum-Ta.

Established in 2007, People’s United Community Foundation was formed to help support programs and activities that enhance the quality of life for citizens in the communities that People’s United Bank serves. People’s United Bank, founded in 1842 and serving customers from New York to Maine through a network of more than 400 branches, is the largest independent bank headquartered in New England. The Foundation places special emphasis on programs designed to promote economic self-sufficiency, education and improved conditions for low-income families and neighborhoods. The funding priorities of the Foundation include community development, youth development, and affordable housing.
